Little horror, but plenty of mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed this unique story, filmed in a perfectly fitting Indian setting. Especially fitting, since reincarnation and karma are deeply intertwined with India. A strong cast portrayed a creepy boyfriend and a resolute mother. A fitting atmosphere with a rising tension at the end. The final scene was completely unnecessary; too standard for this kind of film.

The much-hyped partnership between Amazon Prime Video and Blumhouse has led to these kinds of films, often labeled as "horror." The storyline of this "Evil Eye" may be manageable for those with a passion for India, but the rest is bitterly disappointing and even irritating. The same applies to the recently released titles under this label, Nocturne, The Lie, and Black Box, none of which reach the knees of The Invisible Man and, to a lesser extent, The Hunt, both from earlier this year. The remake of Fantasy Island was already a sign that Blumhouse is also capable of producing subpar films. Even for the On Demand market, it's often a matter of fast-forwarding to the credits, so Blumhouse can no longer be considered a horror producer for the time being, and even the suspense is far from being felt.

A disappointing Blumhouse project with a safe execution and a tired concept. Directing duo Elan Dassani and Rajeev Dassani deliver a largely uninteresting finale, most of whose positive points come from Sarita Choudhury's excellent acting and an interesting cultural interplay, but hardly any tension or atmosphere is evoked. It's incredibly frustrating how poorly the family members in Evil Eye communicate with each other, which ultimately proves to be the crux of the problem. Towards the end, something finally happens, but by then, most fans will likely have already formed a negative opinion.
