Le Bel Indifférent plot
A woman waits in a small hotel room. She listens to the outside noises, calls the reception to ask for news about her beloved Emile. Finally Emile arrives, lies on the bed and opens a newspaper. The woman gives him a reproachful monologue.

An early work by Jacques Demy and above all has that historical value. It is a monologue by Jeanne Allard and it all feels theatrical. The latter is also emphasized by an opening and closing theater curtain at the beginning and the end. It is especially interesting that it is a film adaptation of work by Jean Cocteau and that the music of Maurice Jarre has a prominent place. The 'story' itself is very ok and a typical coat rack to hang such a monologue on.
