As John Milton already nicely describes it, it is an interesting spectacle to see how a stirred-up crowd out of a desire for revenge, convinced of their own great sense of right/justice, attacks or punishes other people for their misdeeds. Collaboration is still a very sensitive (political) subject in Flanders, just like in France (and the Netherlands), I suspect. Unfortunately, this is also a theme that, like so many themes here, cannot be separated from the community (Flanders vs Wallonia). To talk about the persecution of the Jews, there were indeed differences in "administrative cooperation" between cities such as Antwerp or Brussels.
I felt sorry for the family, not just the parents or the sister, but also for 'bald Nellie'. What is the definition of collaboration, of course? In my opinion, deliberately and structurally helping the enemy to enrich yourself (even at the expense of others) is something different than a "simple thing" who finds love with a German soldier who did not want to be there at all. They weren't all bogeymen, as so many films and literature make out.
Excellent observational short film that gives a nice insight into how a family suffers from a misstep by their daughter. A misstep that takes shape 9 months later in an innocent child. Not easy ...
