"The Story of Solomon Mahlangu"

The true story of 19-year-old peddler Solomon Mahlangu from a township outside Pretoria, South Africa. He is horribly beaten by the police, exiled and joins the liberation movement. After returning from military training in Angola, his comrade Mondi shoots two innocent people in Johannesburg. Kalushi is also brought to trial by the 'Common purpose doctrine' and the state wants to sentence him with the highest penalty: death by hanging. Kalushi uses the court as his last battleground.

Four years have passed and interest remains meager. This film indeed deserves better. I don't know how long this has been on Netflix, but that may change.

A poignant story of which there may be many. Apartheid in South Africa was terrible and in addition to discrimination, violent acts and ultimately executions were legal. This also applies to young Solomon, who, as an accomplice, is placed on an equal footing with a perpetrator who has two murders on his conscience.

The process often resembles a mock trial. It doesn't really matter what the defense tries. Some arresting images here and there, especially the scene where he is arrested by the railway police. Humiliating.
