Ode to Joy plot

"He's never been happier. And that's the problem."

Charlie suffers from cataplexy. When experiencing strong emotions, in his case mainly joy, he gets attacks that paralyze his muscles. As a solution to this, he develops a series of techniques to avoid feeling too much happiness and pleasure. No mean feat and certainly not when he falls in love with Francesca.

Great movie. The ending might be predictable, but the journey to get there is quite enjoyable. A great cast and some occasionally funny humor make up for a lot. A bit clichéd, but still quite entertaining.

Cataplexy. I'd never heard of it before. Director Jason Winer has made an optimistic dramedy about it with a lighthearted tone. A charming little film.

By the way: Morena Baccarin is a beautiful woman. But we already knew that.

This film simply transcends the many run-of-the-mill rom-coms, doesn't it?

Now, I don't have a friend who looks like Martin Freeman, but I've liked him for quite some time. So I might not be 100% neutral either, given my soft spot for the good guy. No shit, Sherlock.

But what a dazzling jumble of romance between two souls drawn to each other we had here? And then there's that terrible condition that stands in the way and must be accepted, for better or for worse. Preferably not too many good ones, because then there will be too many bad ones, oh, the irony. But take it or leave it, that's how it should be.

Melissa Rauch also had a great role. And suddenly there weren't enough Martin Freemans, even with that nasty cataplexy. Go ahead!
