Where is Anne Frank?

Beautiful animation film with a dark edge that is Germany, they are depicted as if we still live in that time. Someone's imagination is being used a bit too much, especially if they think that we still have so much snow and thick ice for skating.

I don't know what to think about them, they give Anna Frank more and more personality and all kinds of typical characteristics? But what's true, always seemed to me a timid girl, strong-willed and lively, but here she seems to be God's gift to boys again?

I watched this and thought it was a nice movie. Also great is the mix of past and present. The film also contained a beautiful message, which gave the film that extra something. The animations were good and the running time was also good, not too long and not too short.

The second film I see by the Israeli animator and director Ari Folman and as far as I am concerned it has taken far too long. I had quite a few expectations from the film, because Vals im Bashir was a very strong film. Although the content of that film was different, Folman nevertheless takes on a politically sensitive subject. In any case, the animation is of very high quality to begin with. Really great effects and animation styles that connect seamlessly together. I was particularly excited by the circular effects given to certain scenes. Reminded me a lot of Tiny Planet photos. Less strong is the final content of the film, in which the almost constant alternation between the present and the past is mainly counterproductive. Because there are changes all the time, it is not possible for the viewer to sympathize with a certain side of the story. Towards the finale, Folman even breaks the Second World War topics completely open and highlights the Dutch refugee problem. This is worked out in such a concise manner that it leaves a bitter aftertaste, especially because this specific subject is a lot more complex and complicated than this film would lead you to believe. In any case, in the real world you can't solve it with a single speech. Fortunately, the film looks pretty far away and doesn't last too long. Enough potential in Folman's work, but I hope the next film won't take almost 10 years to complete again.
