For underground gore lovers with a tentacle fetish. Guts of a Beauty / Virgin & Batoru Gâru: Tokyo Crisis Wars (1991) (4*) director Komizu lets himself be enjoyed again see the best side. Feels like a charming amateur debut film, but nothing could be further from the truth. The then 40-year-old director had already made a nice list of pinku/softcore titles. The switch to horror was certainly not a strange step at the time, because those genres go together perfectly. The softcore would mainly be found in his 'Guts' films, not so much here. Although there was enough potential with the group of school friends. The sweet opening is still somewhat reminiscent of Hausu, but the crazy playfulness of that classic is replaced by blood fountains and slimy tentacles. Not wrong either.
