Hjertelandet plot
"A different kind of love story"
Thai-Danish Sommai has been living in northern Jutland with her husband Niels for 25 years. With her life experience and knowledge of Danish society, she helps other Thai women find a Danish man and build a life. The intensive contact she maintains with many nieces, sisters and friends in Thailand and Denmark enables directors Janus Metz and his wife, the anthropologist Sine Plambech, to follow the lives of this group of women for ten years. Some have been living in Denmark for years and have children, others are about to take the step to Europe or decide to stay in Thailand.
