Mijn Leven Is van Mij - Pia Douwes plot

For more than thirty years, Pia Douwes roamed the world as a kind of nomad for musical productions and plays in the Netherlands, Europe and the United States. She has been critically acclaimed and often played women who, like herself, had to fight to be there. Westermann followed her closely for a year and also used film material from Pia's father's archive. Even in her most vulnerable moments, Pia lets the camera in: when she needs to stop temporarily. When looking ahead, the concern for her now seriously ill parents also plays a role. 'I don't want to survive anymore. I want to be able to live well.'
