Island of the Hungry Ghosts plot
The Australian territory of Christmas Island is located on the coast of Indonesia. It is inhabited by millions of crabs that migrate from the jungle to the ocean, in a movement provoked by the full moon over hundreds of thousands of years. Poh Lin Lee is a "trauma therapist" who lives with her family in this seemingly idyllic paradise. Every day she talks to the asylum seekers who have been held indefinitely in a high-security detention center hidden in the center of the island. She tries to support them in their unbearable and insecure situation.
