Genji Monogatari: Sennen no Nazo plot
The lady-in-waiting Shikibu is commissioned by a counselor of the emperor to write a passionate love story, which should arouse so much passion in his daughter that she becomes an attractive partner for the emperor. The story is about Prince Genji, the emperor's son, and his most beloved concubine. His mother dies during childbirth, after which he grows up loveless at court.
