Barley Fields on the Other Side of the Mountain plot

"A film about the price of freedom and who pays for it, told through the eyes of a teenage girl."

Sixteen-year-old Pema lives in the remote mountains of Tibet. For generations, her family has cared for barley fields there. When her father is arrested by the Chinese authorities, her world collapses. Pema meets a Buddhist nun who invites her to cross the Himalayas with a group to India, away from persecution. Pema has doubts: will she go with her and can she just leave her family behind?
