Apocalypse: Verdun plot
In February 1916, the German army launched an attack on French positions near the city of Verdun. The result: the longest battle of World War I and one of the bloodiest ever. More than 700,000 men lost their lives in a war of attrition that lasted more than 300 days. The horrific, truly apocalyptic battle took place on an area of some 100 square kilometers. In the end, nothing was achieved at all. The Battle of Verdun has gone down in history as a completely pointless massacre that should never be forgotten. This gripping documentary is of indispensable value. Using colored archive footage, the devastation of the battle is uniquely exposed and the astonishing course of the battle revealed.
