Apocalypse: Verdun plot
In February 1916, the German army launched an attack on French positions near the city of Verdun. The result: the longest battle of World War I and one of the bloodiest ever. More than 700,000 men lost their lives in a war of attrition that lasted more than 300 days. The horrific, truly apocalyptic battle took place on an area of some 100 square kilometers.
