De Fietser plot
Cycling in the city of Amsterdam is such an everyday occurrence that hardly anyone notices. But that is not what filmmaker and artist Kees Hin sees: "Cycling is a symphony of the city in motion, vitality; the tension between happiness and misfortune, from young to old, rich and poor". He made an almost meditative film about it that makes us think about the cycle of life in a philosophical way. From a moving, heaving swarm of cyclists, a few are occasionally pecked and followed: from a courier, a delivery man, a mobile bicycle repairman, a physiotherapist to an emigrant family and a victim in bicycle traffic. They talk about how the bicycle plays a decisive role in their lives.
