The Entire History of You plot

The film is set in an alternate reality where everyone has access to a system that records everything everyone does, sees or hears. You never have to forget a face, a vacation or a night out... but is that always a good thing?

Fairly banal again.

A piece of technical progress is again the source of a lot of suffering. This time it is the possibility to retrieve memories on commado, a gadget that clashes with a jealous man after he has met an ex of his girlfriend.

In itself we see little new here, just a relationship that is on the rocks due to both adultery and a lack of trust/jealousy. The sci-fi aspect encourages it, but as an idea it is far from new or original of course.

Otherwise not very impressive. Visually it is very poor, the acting is not very good (especially the more difficult scenes come out very poorly) and the soundtrack is also not very noticeable. In terms of direction, it simply falls short.

A simple nonsense, which manages to create very little memorable within its short playing time. It would probably have been better if they had put younger directors to work, as in anthologies, as they often have a greater urge to create something with an identity.

1.5*

Okay BM.

Compared to the other 2 episodes of season 1, I unfortunately have to conclude that I think this is the weakest episode so far. It didn't really remind me much anymore that I was watching Black Mirror but I was only watching 50% Black Mirror.

The film feels very much like a Dutch teen drama. Exaggerated relationship created with adults who can behave quite like children. It's all just too exaggerated and sometimes even tiring to keep watching.

Acting is okay actually. It's a shame that the characters themselves are just so weird. It's all just a little too strong to really get through. Yet the episode manages to be strong in the last minutes, where I could really recognize Black Mirror again.

So it feels more like a short film that doesn't add too much and doesn't really feel that brilliant or super entertaining. Disappointment in the series, but I'm still curious about the next seasons and episodes.

I certainly don't think this episode is bad within the Black Mirror series.

It nicely shows how technology, in this case an implanted chip that allows you to relive all scenes from your past, can disrupt relationships and society.

And how regardless of technology, jealousy destroys everything.

It's better not to say more about this so as not to reveal too much about the story.
