De Ondergang van de Van Imhoff plot

In 1942 the Dutch steamship the Van Imhoff, with 477 German civilian prisoners on board, was sunk by a Japanese plane near Sumatra. The captain decides to save the entire Dutch crew, but condemns the Germans to death by drowning. Only 65 of them survive the disaster. They wash up on the Dutch East Indies island of Nias.
