The Book of Birdie plot
"Beautiful is the Blood."
Birdie, a young and fragile teenager with an overactive imagination, is placed in an isolated and picturesque monastery in Lake Michigan. Birdie has been experiencing strange, gory, and mysterious obsessions for a while that grab her attention. Then she meets Julia, a feisty, pretty and inspiring girl who is growing a budding lesbian crush. Birdie, however, can't shake her fascination with the gory, bizarre and whimsical hallucinations that haunt her. She investigates the hallucinations and visions and tries to find out whether they are sacred or diabolical.
