It's a true exception, but I've seen this movie in three parts. The first time I couldn't get through, the second time my focus couldn't be won either and it was only at attempt number three that I managed - with difficulty - to reach the finish line. It was more along the lines of 'then I've had that'.
Well, it doesn't sound positive. I am therefore far from lyrical about this production. It was a long sit, as tough as an elderly packet of biscuits. The characters were one-dimensional, it never got exciting and the story - although true - didn't grab me by the throat. Hemsworth (Nelson) and Negahban (Dostum) fill their roles well, but the script offered little room for empathy or sympathy.
At a certain point, with the uninspired pee-puff-poof on repeat, the bad guys caricatures, American patriotism and forced sentiment, I no longer cared at all. I started looking forward to the end credits and that is obviously never a good thing - the shot of the Chinook was one of the highlights for me.
No, just give me Lone Survivor (2013). The film shows how it should be done. 12 Strong gets a one-way ticket to my cerebral futility shredder.

Wonderful film and certainly not become a standard film. I don't understand all these negative comments. Special Force on 6 horses where can you find something like this. Never shown before. Thus it became more of an adventure film that is largely based on truth. Anyone who has seen the extras will also see the real Special Force speak. There is little fantasized about this film. It is strategically correct. The ending may be a bit overdone, but for a movie like this it's fine. Found the actions environment recorded in New Mexico superbly made. The special caves in layers where the sun shines through. Beautiful. Also happening at home in the basement wife and children. It's all right. Patriotic? No problems with that. Should we be a little more? We no longer dare to show a flag or we are already nationalistic. Come on!
