The most exciting thing about Air Strike is the mah yongg match - and even that has a predictable ending. For the rest:

Bitterly badly dubbed, even with English spoken.

Actually every cliché from any war movie comes along.

Chinese "acting" dating back to the silent movie era.

Story is completely rudderless.

CGI to cry.

One unbelievable stunt with a shaky truck.

A two-minute kung-fu brawl where no one gets a scratch.

Bombers that, strangely enough, are only hit in the right wing.

Oh, and everyone's best friend/brother/teammate dies because of the actions of just one Japanese and the movie impressed me so much that I've already forgotten whether he dies in the end or not.

Absolute rock bottom for Willis and why Brody ended up in this mess is a complete mystery to me.

Zero*) points...

*) Pun intended: This one time I'm in favor of the Japanese.

War film from the B category, only the expression 'weird Chinese' gives a deeper meaning. Material for three hours, crammed together for an hour and a half, making this look like a completely incomplete but nevertheless overcrowded rush job. Rarely seen a film that is so poorly edited. The emotional, dramatic scenes are often unintentionally hilarious, and that must not have been the intention. The countless special effects in all those fights look very modern, but also fake, especially make you long for the time when these kinds of scenes were simply shot in real life. Some American stars have been hired for thankless roles. Bruce Willis looks a bit less bored than with his last films, but it's still not good what he shows. Daughter Rumer is mentioned at the front of the opening credits, but only walks through the screen for a few seconds. Oscar winner Adrien Brody gets off with a supporting role of nothing at all, what happened to him? Just a bad film, only interesting if you like curious productions.

In 1937 and 1938 Japan tries to bring the Chinese people to their knees with a barrage of bullets and a never-ending amount of bombing. The focus is on the inhabitants of a village where a feud is going on over a tea house and which is preparing for a Mahjong tournament. Bruce Willis plays the American military adviser tasked with preparing young Chinese pilots to risk their lives to stop the Japanese, and there's a storyline nicked from Wages of Fear, including an orphanage teacher who is some children have fled. Adrien Brody also makes an appearance in this often confusing and laughable special effects war epic. If the ridiculous and totally unconvincing dogfights and exaggerated explosions don't take your viewing pleasure away, those whining kids probably will. Old-fashioned propaganda of the sad kind.
