Nigel Bach was responsible for Bad Ben as director, writer, lead actor, producer and editor. An impressive task for a project that eventually received eleven sequels and is currently having the twelfth sequel crowdfunded. Unfortunately, it's not as big a task as it seems, because Bad Ben is a rather simple horror film that revolves around a very stupid main character. However, Bach found himself so interesting that his character had to keep an entire video diary, but that only made me personally think more that the so-called Tom Riley had fallen on his head as a child. To give an example, at one point Bach indicates that he feels a little reassured. Because now he knows that there is "just" a ghost in the house and that he is not being broken into for the thirtieth time. How do you come to those conclusions. I was quite surprised. The horror within this film is also only defined by some shadows (a guy in a hoodie), exorcism rituals, sounds in another room and sliding objects. All examples are always executed without tension. I found it fascinating to see how one can have such a passion for this that it is stretched to 86 minutes, let alone the fact that almost 13 films have now been made within the series. This kind of cheap nonsense is not for me, but the curiosity always remains high enough to look it up again and again.
