Liefde Is Aardappelen plot

One day, filmmaker Aliona van der Horst receives an inheritance: a small room of six square meters in a wooden house in the countryside of Russia, where her mother grew up. Thus began her search for the unknown past of her Russian mother and five sisters. All appeared to suffer from fear and repression. Stalin, war and artificial famines had deeply wounded and scratched their very beings and souls.
