La Permission plot
1917. Jeanne Perreau mourns her brother, who was killed at the front. Jeanne's mother married her off to the wealthy Adrien de Volnay. Although he loves Jeanne with all his heart and soul, the feelings are anything but mutual. One day, Jeanne meets Bakary Diop, a Senegalese who served with her brother. It doesn't take long for Jeanne and Bakary to fall in love.
