First Norwegian film I saw. Story is interesting enough to watch the film for almost 2 hours. Filmed in a beautiful environment. It's a shame that this mystery was believed in the 16th century, with all its consequences.

Not a profound film, quite simple, no memorable scenes or shots or the like, little spectacular acting, but definitely not a bad film about a true witch trial in Norway. The Crucible II, but slightly less hysterical. There was a nice shot of a beach that made me think of Munch for a moment.

During a trial, a number of villagers are questioned and a witness claims that she had seen the woman suspected of witchcraft doing tricks with spells. “What kind of spells?” asks the judge. She says again: "In the name of the Father, the Son...", at which everyone starts laughing. I thought it was a bit of a lame joke, everyone knew that at that time, right?

But I certainly enjoyed this film, especially because the subject interests me so much. Yet it is all on the cautious side: the interrogations, the torture... It could all have been a bit harder in my opinion. The prick test can be seen briefly, a test in which suspects were stabbed in the body with a pointed object (an awl, scissors, a long needle). Such a test was conducted to determine whether someone had a so-called stigma diabolicum, a devil's mark, on his or her body, a painless spot inflicted by the devil.

I also have a spot like that on my body, just under my pocket.

Reconstruction of a brutal witch hunt on a remote island off the coast of Finland in the 17th century. The fact that the story is true makes it special, the film itself hardly is.
