The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks plot
"Discover what you are made of"
1951. Henriette Lacks, 31, visits John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, the only hospital she can go to as a black woman. White gynecologist Howard Jones examined Lacks, of course in the room reserved for 'colored people'. He finds a tumor on her cervix that bleeds at the slightest touch. Jones cuts off a piece for examination and sends Henriette home. What Jones doesn't mention is that a sample of Lacks' cancer cells will also be sent to the hospital's cell culture lab. The pathological examination reveals malignant cervical cancer. Long after her death, medical researchers are searching for the holy grail with the help of Lacks' cells: immortal human cells.
