Das Alter der Erde plot

Mountain guide Nils and his wife Birthe lead the perfect family life. Until their daughter grows up, and deep dismemberment appears. Nils thinks it is high time that 20-year-old Tilde left the parental home. Birthe, however, ends up in an existential crisis. While Nils wants more time and freedom to do things together, Birthe suddenly finds a second child an enticing idea. The crisis eventually derails on a guided hike in the mountains that Birthe takes over from Nils because he has his leg in plaster. She experiences a night in the tent with geologist Henrik, which makes it very difficult to return to the order of the day...
