Marias plot
Visiting the celebrations of the Virgin Mary in Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Peru and Nicaragua, director Joana Mariani observes the similarities and differences between their cultures and listens to women who have their own special stories about life, faith and devotion. The result is a film that paints a picture of the Virgin Mary in which she becomes much more than a religious figure or the mother of Christ. It shows how important the Virgin Mary is to women in Latin America and how she has influenced their lives and faith in various ways.
