The Thread plot

'The Thread' is about the investigation after the Boston bombings and reveals a parallel between the online 'investigation' and its influence and consequences. In particular, the use of online channels such as Twitter and Reddit have led to the open blaming of innocent people, forcing the FBI to release photos of the brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev in order to exonerate others. By releasing the photos, the FBI tried to regain control of the investigation. Director Greg Baker shows how the media landscape has changed due to technology and the use of social media.
