Matt Weaver fought for the South during the American Civil War and when he returns home, he discovers that his house has been sold by banker Brewster and that his girlfriend Ruth is married to someone else. When the new resident of the house Matt is about to die, he kills it in an emergency. Brewster now wants to get Matt out of the way and hires a killer.
