Fright Night Part 2 plot

"Do you have a taste for terror? The suckers are back."

After three years, Charley Brewster thinks he's finally recovered from his battle with a vampire. However, a new encounter with TV vampire hunter Peter Vincent changes this, because he has just got new neighbors who behave very bizarrely. The new neighbor immediately pays Charley a nighttime visit, where he willingly lets himself be bitten in the neck.

Foreign. Above it says that they are three years later, I didn't get that idea at all. It seemed like it was a separate story, where characters had the same names but had nothing to do with the characters from the first part. If it was three years later, that's a weird design. Especially the behavior of that friend makes no sense, especially if she has personally experienced it.

The story itself is okay. Romania is nicely chosen and really adds something in terms of atmosphere. The structure is fine, from the lecture hall and the strange events that are followed from behind the window to the 'denouement' of how things really are. I thought the scene in the subway was very strong, good, dark atmosphere and quite ominous. Towards the end I found it to be a bit less, but the occasional outlier that still kept the momentum going and kept me captivated.

Less than part 1 on all fronts, but entertaining nonetheless.

To make a good sequel, you first need to know what makes the original good. This is not understood by the makers here. Fright Night was a horror movie with some comedy, this is a comedy with hardly any horror. And that - like the vampires - sucks! I think this should go straight into the trash. It's not even fun and the female vampire poses no threat whatsoever. Ragsdale and McDowall can't save things at all and go down in this silly mess. As a true Fright Night fan, I think it is impossible to find this a good film.
