"Who we don't know can save us"
On a snowy night in New York, Professor Walter Zarrow is ambushed on the doorstep of his apartment complex, in which he is injured. In an attempt to escape, he haphazardly rings a number of houses, waking up Sam, a middle-aged father having an affair in the city. Reluctantly, Sam helps him before Zarrow loses consciousness. Through an exploration of why these men, along with the robber and an addict named Joe, come together, we discover New York.
