Finally got this one off the (imaginary) pile of films yet to be seen and watched it.

Nice spaghetti western, which deviates somewhat from the average Italian western, but ultimately is not special enough in terms of story to really make an impression.

The film starts with a scene where cowboys are herding cattle and you actually see cows on screen and for me, as a cow fan, it can hardly go wrong (I once worked among cows for four years), but then we have also immediately seen the most special thing about this film and slowly but surely a fairly average revenge story is created, although there are giallo influences here and there:

In a few scenes we see an unrecognizable -because filmed from the back- murderer in a leather jacket, who breaks in a few times during the night and kills someone. By the way, I still don't know who that was.

Also a few cheerful and exaggerated brawls, reminiscent of Spencer/Hill avant la lettre.

Damon does a pretty good job in the lead role, although I personally prefer to see him as a villain, which suits him better with the dark hair and his somewhat mocking grin. Think for example of his performance in "Requiescant" (1967).

The rest of the cast is mainly B-category, although the almost inevitable Pazzafini is always fun to watch as a somewhat dirty-looking villain and this time he also shares the final finale with Damon as his main opponent.

Orlandi's score is often very present, quite good, although sometimes it's just a bit too much of a good thing.

Nice movie for once, but not a classic.

A solid six, or three stars.
