You watch these kinds of movies for the action and the wonderfully grumpy face of Jason Statham. You're not looking for a great story. But that does not mean that they should insult the viewer with a stupid story written on a beer mat on a Sunday morning by a feeble-minded person.
The incredible romance between Statham and Alba gives him enough reason to kill 100 men to save her after just one seesaw and a cup of coffee. She should have just been his girlfriend from the start, and us viewers should have been told they've been happily together for three years. But the way this is presented is beyond ridiculous.
The star of the show is a Tommy Lee Jones disguised as Rob de Nijs who appears very late in the film and barely does anything. The chimney also has to smoke in the Jones house, so he signed up for this meaningless supporting role.
The film is fun to watch with a mate and a beer where you can notice something about the lack of logic every two minutes. And we're not talking about hitching a ride on a paraglider. That was still acceptable.
No, the scene where Statham dives off a rock but takes off his shirt first - because that's the first thing you think of when you're being chased by 100 bad guys: I have to take my shirt off or else I can't do this properly jump off rock.
The action is good, fast, reasonably believable acted and filmed and nice and brutal. I give 2.5 stars for that, and 0 for everything else.

More of the same. The dark side of the first film has given way to several scenes that seem to come out of a Mission Impossible. Fortunately, Statham is there again, not the first time (think of the Transporter series) where he is replaced and the sequel without Statham immediately collapses like a pudding. Light-hearted action film with the necessary scenes and one-liners in which Statham shows that he has a good command of the genre. Popcorn, but nothing more.

Arthur Bishop [Jason Statham] has retired to an island paradise. There he meets Gina [Jessica Alba] who is then kidnapped to force Arthur to travel the world for a series of assassinations. Alba is only there to pout and be beautiful (for example, when she takes a dip in the sea for unclear reasons) and the makers thought that with Hong Kong action legend Michelle Yeoh and Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones, they have enough ingredients for a good action film. However, Yeoh and Lee Jones are only in it for bacon and beans and the plot is negligible. Exploitation of the worse kind.
