After Maarten Mourik was asked to direct a theater performance about the almost eighty-year-old Adèle Bloemendaal, he became fascinated by the cabaret artist. Although Bloemendaal initially had no interest in a documentary, four filmed meetings followed in which one of the Netherlands' most striking theater and television personalities sheds a light on her life in a characteristic way.
