Rarely impressive six-part documentary series about the origins and development of ILM, the company founded by George Lucas to provide the special effects for Star Wars. A treasure trove of archive footage is opened and absolutely everything is done to make something beautiful out of it. Director Lawrence Kasdan (himself co-writer of The Empire Strikes Back) manages to elicit memorable and more than once emotionally charged memories from the interviewees. A feast of recognition but so much more than that, even if you are not a fan of Star Wars. But that helps of course.
