In April 2020 it will be forty years ago that Beatrix became queen. From the balcony of the Palace on Dam Square she saw a cheering crowd with smoke bombs behind it from the squatters who fought the police. A shaky start. There was work to be done. In this series, those directly involved tell, often for the first time and in personal detail, how Beatrix turned the monarchy into a job.
