Science, research and testimonials combine to reconstruct some of the world's worst disasters. Through historical reconstructions, archival footage, forensics, expert testimony and eyewitness accounts, the final moments of the most disastrous disasters of our time are recreated in detail. Each episode consists of three parts: first a look back at the disaster, in which interviews with those affected play an important role. Then an investigation into the causes through re-enactments, eyewitnesses and computer animations to reconstruct the disaster second by second. Finally, there is a summary of the disaster.
