Ruud Gullit has long dreamed of a trip to ancient Egypt. For the first time in his life, he visits the country he has been obsessed with for so long, but never visited. He goes to places where no one is normally allowed in and seeks answers to questions he has been asking himself for a long time, such as: does Tutankhamun's curse exist; were it people who built the pyramids; a secret is hidden under the sphinx's paws; why are black pharaohs often ignored in history, art, tv and film? Ruud Gullit traverses the country with its rich history, meeting freethinkers and leading scientists to search for answers.

Ruud Gullit has apparently dreamed of a trip to ancient Egypt for a long time. His affable and energetic presence is infectious, but the rather off-key voiceover by one Willem de Bruin is very distracting, and the chosen topics aren't always captivating. The episode about Abydos is the low point in that regard. Otherwise, the series is quite entertaining and informative, but it definitely could have been more.
