Ingress: The Animation plot

Scientists have discovered a mysterious substance called Exotic Matter (XM), which can directly affect the human mind. In the wake of this discovery, a battle erupts between powerful nations and large corporations seeking to exploit XM for their own benefit. Police Inspector Makoto Midorikawa lives in this world and possesses the power to read the memories of objects he touches. While investigating an explosion in a laboratory, he finds the ring belonging to one Sarah Coppola. She turns out to be the only survivor and Makoto is determined to find out what happened.
