Folk med Ångest plot
During an open house, a clumsy bank robber locks himself in with an over-enthusiastic real estate agent, two embittered IKEA addicts, a pregnant woman, a suicidal multimillionaire and a rabbit. Finally, the robber gives up and lets everyone go. But when the police storm the apartment, it's empty. The police are stunned and suddenly everyone is suspicious.

Folk Med Ångest/Anxious People is based on the book of the same name by Swedish author Fredrik Backman (A Man Called Ove). And anyone who knows his work a little knows that his books are about colorful, quirky and layered characters. Likewise here. However, the six short episodes of half an hour do not give much space to deepen the main characters.
A bank robbery and a hostage situation, it all sounds pretty heavy. But the tone of this tragicomedy is not. This slightly absurdist mosaic story ends with a good dose of compassion. More time to develop some feeling with the 10 main characters would have done the miniseries well. It all remains very superficial now; with that, Folk Med Ångest ultimately leaves you untouched. This Swedish feel good is sympathetic.

When I was halfway through episode 1, I thought what the hell am I watching? Badly acted, lame jokes, unrealistic and a strange rambling story. It really didn't invite you to look further. A few days later turned it on again. The plot and the actors continued to develop, with each subsequent episode adding a little more drama. But presented in a beautiful and modest way. In the end everything becomes clear and the relationships between them also take on meaning.
'Nothing is what it seems', it was said at one point, and that is true, also in Folk Med Ångest. That's why this mini-series surprised me positively.
