In a post-apocalyptic near future, vampires have taken control of the east coast of the United States. The remaining people have fled to the west coast. In the middle is no man's land where people donate blood weekly to keep the vampires at bay - for now. The vampires' thirst for human destruction is greater than their thirst for blood, because they develop a synthetic blood that eliminates the need for humans. Meanwhile, the humans do not surrender without a fight and have refilled their nuclear arsenal in preparation for total destruction of the vampires.
