Alex Holland thought he hadn't hit a midlife crisis, but after a violent break-in at his home, a dormant purpose is awakened within him. Alex battles a life full of broken promises by joining the Pierce County Police Department as the senior rookie. From the urban coast to the rural woods, where reinforcements aren't always available within five minutes, Alex must prove to his skeptical training officer, his colleagues, and himself that he has finally found something he wants to fight for.
