Endeavour plot

The young Endeavor Morse takes his first steps on the detective path in the 1960s. It all begins when young, bright Morse enlists in the Oxfordshire Police Department, where he soon progresses to the crime-fighting division. After a successful murder investigation, seasoned inspector Fred Thursday takes Morse under his wing as a sort of ward. Thursday teaches Morse the tricks of the trade, and how: Morse solves one complicated murder case after another. But some of his superiors are not really happy with all those successes. And Morse will notice that too.

Endeavor takes revenge against s4. The episodes are very well put together, we end up in all kinds of different worlds and there are plenty of fairly interesting sidelines that may or may not continue from the previous seasons and can be extended into the next. And the decoration / settings are of course again to pass through a ring.

Shaun Evans does a fine job, although Roger Allam regularly steals the show with his bone-dry comments. "Ooh, rice pudding! With the skin on?" The rest of the cast does a decent job too, with DeBryn as the (usually) laconic coroner. The names of quite a few main characters are striking. First of all, Endeavor (effort, striving), but also Thursday, Bright, Strange, Fancy, Trewlove (pronounced truelove) and the biggest villain is called Nero... what does it all mean? do not know.
