Sir David Attenborough presents 'Asia', a seven-part nature documentary exploring the vast and diverse continent of Asia. The series reveals its most remarkable landscapes and animals, as well as previously unseen behaviour. From the vast Gobi Desert to the rainforests of Borneo, and from the icy deserts of Siberia to the coral-rich seas of the Indian Ocean.

Gezien de Methuselah-achtige leeftijd van David Attenborough moeten we inmiddels bij iedere nieuwe documentairereeks van de BBC vrezen dat het zijn laatste kan zijn, maar so far so good. Dit is in ieder geval weer een hele mooie, zoals altijd voorzien van magistraal camerawerk en een niet aflatende stroom aan exotische beesten en vissen. De zeven afleveringen zijn stuk voor stuk prachtig, met uiteraard ook weer de inmiddels onmisbare making of aan het einde, vaak even boeiend als de afleveringen zelf. En de statige, rustgevende voice-over van Attenborough... magie. Hopelijk wordt die man 200.

Given David Attenborough's Methuselah-like age, we have to fear that every new BBC documentary series might be his last, but so far, so good. This is another beautiful one, as always, featuring masterful camerawork and a never-ending stream of exotic animals and fish. Each of the seven episodes is magnificent, with, of course, the now indispensable making-of sequence at the end, often as captivating as the episodes themselves. And Attenborough's stately, soothing voiceover... magic. Hopefully, the man lives to be 200.
