The four-part Douglas is Cancelled by creator and screenwriter Steven Moffat (Sherlock, Coupling) is an excellent topical dramedy full of bad men and vile women. You wonder why Moffat has wasted all those years of his talent on Dr. Who. News anchor Douglas Bellowes (Hugh Bonneville) tells a bad joke at a wedding, which makes him the subject of the news himself. With co-presenter Madeline (BAFTA-worthy played by Karen Gillan) a dramatic and humorous duel develops on the cutting edge. The supporting roles are colorful. Douglas' wife is played by an Alex Kingston - somewhat lost sight of since her role in ER - here strikingly hysterical and panicky present. Douglas is Cancelled gets off to a slow start, but is completely convincing in the second part.
