Monarch: Legacy of Monsters plot

A massive battle between Godzilla and the Titans has razed San Francisco to the ground. After the shocking revelation that monsters are real, two children set out to follow in their father's footsteps to discover their family's connection to the mysterious organization Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and eventually down the rabbit hole to army officer Lee Shaw. He first came into contact with Monarch in the 1950s. Half a century later, what Shaw knows threatens the Japanese-American institution.

Hier valt zoveel mee te doen en dan zet je zoiets knullig neer waarin slecht geacteerd wordt en zeker slecht gecast. Jammer, hopelijk doen ze beter als er een seizoen 2 komt.

There is so much to do with this and then you create something so clumsy with poor acting and certainly poor casting. Too bad, hopefully they do better if there is a season 2.

Bij vlagen erg sterk en visueel ziet het er allemaal prima uit, maar inhoudelijk is deze serie binnen het Godzilla-universum erg wisselvallig. Een aantal matige afleveringen in het midden van het seizoen halen de vaart er behoorlijk uit en er zijn simpelweg te weinig monsters. Pluspunten zijn er gelukkig ook: de rol van vader Kurt en zoon Wyatt Russell is erg leuk bedacht en wanneer de titanen dan toch hun opwachting maken valt het spektakel niet tegen. Ik ben in ieder geval van de partij als een tweede reeks zich aandient.

At times very strong and visually it all looks fine, but in terms of content this series is very variable within the Godzilla universe. A number of mediocre episodes in the middle of the season slow down the pace and there are simply too few monsters. Fortunately, there are also positives: the role of father Kurt and son Wyatt Russell is very nicely conceived and when the titans do make their appearance, the spectacle is not disappointing. In any case, I will be there if a second series presents itself.
