Season 8 is still Married with Children at its best. Due to the presence of the legendary Al Bundy (tribute to Ed O'Neill), the series can hardly go wrong, although a sitcom like this is prone to relapsing into a rehearsal. Despite the fact that certain jokes and insults do return, Married seems to step up every season. It gets a little more absurd and meaner every time, without sacrificing the chemistry between the actors, and that keeps the series relevant and different from other comedies. Now I seem to remember that they go a bit too far towards the end of the series, but so far it's really an upward trend that the series is going through. The potential was already visible in the first season and I am happy to see that they have also used it.

Granted, some episodes are more fun than others, but they're all worth it. Almost every episode has a laugh, something that so far only this series and Friends have been able to achieve with me. Notably 'No Chicken, No Check', 'Take My Wife, Please' (a compliment to the Village People for their self-mockery), 'Dances with Weezy', 'Change for a Buck', 'Honey, I Blew Up Myself' , 'Valentine's Day Massacre', 'Ride Scare' and 'Assault and Batteries' are nothing short of brilliant.

4.5*

This is a rare example of a sitcom that has gotten better with age. The first seasons had good scripts, but now the actors are better attuned to each other, more spontaneous, more brutal, more free, with some improvisation. The kids are funnier now that they are a bit older.

The two couples are each other's opposites. Al has the mentality of a caveman; Marcy is a rabid feminist. Peggy and Jefferson are the partners who live at their own expense. Al's main interests are the three B's: beer, breasts and ball games.

There is also a contrast between Bud and Kelly. He has book knowledge, but little success with the opposite sex; with her it is the other way around. Kelly has the characteristics of the dumb blonde, but shows islands of intelligence and still manages to get her way with her street smarts.

There are salacious jokes about sex and the differences between men and women. No Ma'am wants to return to the pre-feminist era. The new shop assistant Aaron is still young and naive, but gets life lessons from the cynical Al. Guest roles are provided by Jerry Springer and Gary Coleman (Arnold).

Favorite episodes: 1, 3, 6, 8, 14, 16, 18, 26.
