After Life follows Tony, who lived a perfect life before his wife suddenly passed away. After contemplating suicide, he decides to move on with his life and do as he pleases. Nice balance between drama and humor, with Gervais in a more recognizable, human role this time. The well-timed jokes are occasionally quite harsh, but the more sentimental elements of the plot also work properly. Many well-known faces from Gervais' previous series appear in important supporting roles.
