Once again, the conflict of loyalty between Uthred and King Alfred is a delight. In the third season of "The Last Kingdom" (2018), things are brought to a head when the principled protagonist finally clashes with hypocritical Christian values. It's especially enjoyable to see how Æthelwold finally manages to make his move in the ensuing chaos. Actor Henry McEntire's expressive facial expressions are hilarious. Also a delightful performance by the pagan seer Skade (Thea Sofie Loch Næss) as the psychotic schemer who curses everyone, even her own supporters. It makes for a third season full of epic saber-rattling and wryly comical plot twists.
