One of the most anticipated Netflix productions of the year is The Thursday Murder Club, based on the best-selling mystery novel of the same name by Richard Osman.
The novel itself was a phenomenon and sold over 15 million copies worldwide. The Guardian described it as the "fastest selling adult crime debut" in recorded history.
Four books have been written by Osman within the series, with a fifth on the way.
The success of The Thursday Murder Club meant a movie adaptation was inevitable. In 2020, Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment acquired the rights and a few years later it was confirmed that Chris Columbus of Home Alone and Harry Potter fame would direct.
