1844. The young weaver Mila flees from Silesia to the New World after her husband was killed in a weaver's revolt. In the United States, she joins the group of settlers of Countess Cecilie and her husband, Colonel Count Arnim von Hohenberg. As their maid, she witnesses a violent tantrum from Arnim against his wife. Mila helps Cecilie and severely injures the Count. Furious, he chases away both women, who soon become captives of the young Native American warrior Buffalo Hump, who travels with them across Texas.
